NewYorkGov.KathyHochulhassaidshewillmeetwithcityleadersonTuesdaywhileindicatingshemayremoveNewYorkCityMayorEricAdamsfromoffice.
HochulmadetheannouncementMondaynightinastatementfollowingtherecentresignationsoffourofAdams’sdeputymayors.
“IrecognizetheimmenseresponsibilityIholdasgovernorandtheconstitutionalpowersgrantedtothisoffice,“Hochulstated.”Inthe235yearsofNewYorkStatehistory,thesepowershaveneverbeenutilizedtoremoveaduly-electedmayor;overturningthewillofthevotersisaseriousstepthatshouldnotbetakenlightly.
“Thatsaid,theallegedconductatCityHallthathasbeenreportedoverthepasttwoweeksistroublingandcannotbeignored.Tomorrow,IhaveaskedkeyleaderstomeetmeatmyManhattanofficeforaconversationaboutthepathforward,withthegoalofensuringstabilityfortheCityofNewYork.”
