When our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence they signed their own death warrants. Each man pledged his life, his fortune, and his sacred honor to the creation of this nation.

If you look at a copy of the Declaration you will notice the signature of Stephen Hopkins appearing shaky. When Hopkins signed, he famously said, “My hand trembles, but my heart does not.”

As a result of their courage, many of our founding fathers faced unbearable suffering and hardship as they fought the greatest military and economic superpower the world had ever seen.

Thomas Nelson Jr. was a wealthy Virginian with a beautiful mansion and much to lose. During the Siege of Yorktown his home was taken and used by the British. Nelson urged artillery to fire on his own home as a result. After using his fortune to help fund the revolution he died in total financial ruin.

Francis Lewis had his Long Island home destroyed by the British. His wife was captured and held prisoner and died not long after her release.

John Hart was forced into hiding as the British raided and destroyed his family farm. While he was gone, he missed the death of his beloved wife.

Richard Stockton was captured by the British and imprisoned in brutal conditions, his home was plundered and his prized library was destroyed. His health never recovered after his imprisonment, and he died only a few years after release—likely due to his capture.

George Walton served as a militia officer. He was wounded and captured during the Siege of Savannah.

Thomas Heyward Jr. fought in the South Carolina militia and was captured during the Siege of Charleston. He suffered terribly as a prisoner of war.

These men stood by their word because they believed in the cause of freedom.

Jefferson wrote in the Declaration, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

If all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, including the right to LIFE, how can this nation permit abortion?

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of this amazing country, will we once again renew the pledge of our founders?

To some it may seem unlikely that we can defeat the abortion industry. To some it seemed unlikely that our founders would prevail.

We will honor their legacy by finally securing the right to LIFE for all, including the unborn.
